Our Governance
St. John’s is an Anglican Church. Anglicanism is the third largest communion of Christians in the world. As Anglicans, we have a strong emphasis on the Scriptures, the Sacraments, and prayer that unites us with a worldwide family.
Along with Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodoxy, Anglicans recognize that the apostles passed on authority to their successors, the bishops, through the laying on of hands and prayers. These bishops continue to lead the Church today. Our bishops can trace this passage of authority back to the apostles themselves, giving us a tangible, visible, and sacramental connection to the Church that Jesus’ apostles built.
We are a local church in the Yellowstone Missionary District, which is a regional mission led by the Suffragan Bishop Mark Zimmerman. This District is canonically resident in the Diocese of Western Anglicans which is shepherded by Bishop Keith Andrews in the Province of the Anglican Church of North America under Archbishop Steve Wood.
